No, that is not true. We do not have a section dedicated to genealogy, but we do own sources that could be useful in genealogical research, including: select census records from Appalachia, a few registries of court records, historic newspaper articles from the region, and Berea College yearbooks, among others.
Additionally, Sharyn Mitchell works in the Reading Room at Special Collections and Archives. She assists students with research, but is also the primary person to assist with geneological research. See the link below for her contact information.
