Q. How do I access articles that I have found via Google Scholar?

When you retrieve articles via Google Scholar, you will not typically have access to them in full-text (except for those provided via JSTOR).

Often, though, if you copy the citation information from the result you found in Google Scholar, you can retrieve a full-text copy of the article via one of Hutchins Library's databases.

To do this, you will need to:

1). Visit Full-Text Journals on the Hutchins Library website (linked to below)

2).  Search for the journal title provided in your citation by entering it in the search box and choosing "journal title" to search within using the search type "contains"

3). If we have access to the article, the search will determine which years the subscription was active for and via what method you can access the articles - whether electronically or in the bound print collection.

4). If electronic access if available for that journal, Full Text Journals will let you know which database provides access and will also link you directly to that database to begin your search.

5). Once linked directly to the database, you can search and retrieve the article using the rest of the citation information that was provided to you by Google Scholar.

6). If we own the article in our bound print collection, the holdings information will read "Hutchins Library Journal Collection" and will list which years we have print available. If your need matches our holdings, you can proceed to the bound collection on the first floor, which are arranged alphabetically by journal title.

7). If Hutchins Library does not have access to the journal, you may request the article you need via our Interlibrary Loan service.
